We were told we would receive a free Carnival 4 night cruise for listening to a 90 minute presentation. That turned into 3 hours and with me being rude and insisting that we have to leave.

Be prepared for them to insult your intelligence and basically tell you if you love your family you will buy this. Hope you have an additional 30k lying around but if not they will finance you for about $600 a month. But really what is the cost of love, right? And if you don't spend 30K after there presentation they don't want to see you again.

YOu won't be allowed back because you would be like a bad date and why would they want to go on a bad date again? I'm not making this up. It was so over the top it was almost funny, but just a bit too insulting to be funny. After we finally left with our free cruise pamphlet I called to see what fees were involved.

Well as I should have guessed it was a scam!! The free cruise was only $9.92 cheaper than if I just went to Carnivals website and booked it myself. What a waste of my day. Don't get fooled like we did!!!

If it sounds to good to be true it is!! FESTIVA LIES!!!

Thanks for exposing this Time Share scam - Festiva Resorts. I recently got a letter in the mail saying I will be awarded a free Android computer with software included just for coming to a 45 minute presentation with my husband, and of course I must have a major credit card for identification LOL.

I even asked if there were ANY HIDDEN FEES or TAXES and was told "Absolutely not"! Even though I would go just to expose them, my husband is not going to want to waste his time so we'll be no-shows.

Here is a link for reporting this to the La Attorney General (if you haven't already).

There is a link for Consumer Complaints. Also, the BBB could be advised.

Time Share is for people with common sense that can USE their money...My niece told me about this site of *** complainers...lots are anonynous, calling credibility issues. I USE mine all the time and YOU freeloaders looking for a lunch are annoying ME. Ownership has costs and needs OWNER involvement, accept responsibilty for using what you have

I've contact my local news company.. I live in the NEW ORLEANS ARea.

FYI: In the second letter I received, I noticed that there will be ANOTHER $400 charge due summer 2011. Where will this end?

How can I get out?? Were all these special fees in our original contract and I missed them? We don't have all kinds of discretionary income to just be throwing their way at a moment's notice. We had less than 2 months to come up with that $400.

And we are told we are lucky it wasn't $700 like the others.

I just want out. Any ideas?

As a Festiva time-share owner, buying their time share was probably the worst financial decision that I have ever made. Maintenance fees continue to go up along with new (Sept 2010) special assessment.

Why throw more good money after bad? How to escape Festiva is my question?

Guest

Good luck Rebelheart. Hopefully you can find a loop hole and get out.

Breach of contract perhaps? Someone needs to take on this company.

It should be illegal to run a company this way. GOOD LUCK!!!!

This company is a scam from top to bottom. After showing us two beautiful units in new Orleans we signed up.HUGE mistake! The free night at the resort they then wanted to charge us $85 for and they put us in an old musty moldy dirty room that had ratty old furniture with a brick for a leg.The tv was an antique 19" on a TV tray!Customer service never answers nor calls back. The "free" carnival cruise cost more to book through them than it would have just to buy it.Now they are so poorly run they are accessing a"special" fee to members for their losses! A total rip off company. We also found we can book vacations, often at the very same resorts cheaper online independantly than they give their own members! We will sue!

I did not join Festiva but so far from everything I've experienced and read about the company I am so happy I didn't.

I am sorry to see you had some issues at the presentation. Please send your contact information to comments@***.travel and I will have someone contact you to resolve any concerns you have.

I received this notice as everyone has so I sent them a long message and shockingly no response whatsoever. Why would they address me in private? I won't gain them anything. They just want the appearance of being helpful. I priced some of the resorts offered by Festiva and the price is relatively the same as the maintenance fees. It just does not seem like a good value and the company obviously is aware of the lies being to told to it's customers and potential customers. I would exercise any opt out options and run. Good luck!

Well, I have been in Festiva for 2 years and spent $3000 to convert from my old resort on Cape Cod to Festiva's network. I was sold on the conversion because the marketing rep made the following promises:

1. My annual maintenance fees would be locked in, never to rise again. (NOT True)

2. There would be no Special Assessments. (Not True).

3. I could "opt out" of Festiva by simply turning in my membership and did not have to sell it. (Not True)

4. I could exchange in their network for free or for a small fee. (True)

In case any Festiva members are reading this: There is a new policy about "opting out" of Festiva, effective August 2010. You now have to pay an Opt Out Fee of $695. The Festiva Finance Dept. quietly put this policy in place without informing their members, and opting out is not guaranteed.

Festiva for me is a good news, bad news. I joined for the 4 reasons above and now find that 3 were marketing hype/lies, not by Festiva but by the marketing company hired by Festiva to convince me to convert.

At this point I do not know what I am going to do. Festiva has lost one Carribean resort, which is another reason I joined. I live in New England and have all the beaches I need without North or South Carolina ones.

So on top of the misrepresentations my choices now seem smaller than ever. And quite frankly I am fed up with RCI, and the whole time share experience. Not having a time share means you can go where you want, when you want for not much more than what timeshare membership can cost you.

Peanut,

I understand your frustration and hope we have the opportunity to address any questions or concerns you have. Without your contact information we have no way of having a manager review your account and resolving your concerns. We hope to hear from you soon.

Festiva Rep.

Look, with all the so-call lies going around how can I take anything you say to heart.

I need out and that's that. they tell you they are giving you points as a gift and when you try to use them you find out that you have to pay a maintanance fee, what kind of gift is that. That's like giving a christmas gift to someone and when they open it they are hit with the bill for the gift. That has happened more than once.

Also, when I called to get reservations at the beach for a wedding, I was told that there was nothing available. I called the same hotel and was told that they had two rooms. When I tried to use my points and they found out I was with Festiva the lady said she could not talk to me.

What's up with that? There is a lot more I could say but what good will it do.

Sara Uyu

Peanut,

Please email your name and contact information to comments@festiva.travel and I will have someone from the correct depatment contact you to address any questions or concerns you may have. I dont know where to start. Maybe someone can help.

I got a letter today (9/13/2010) about a $400.00 charge to help Festiva to get out of trouble. And also another $50.00 in maintenance fees. Im now retired and cant pay all that money.

If I dont pay they will take a lein on my house. Is there no HELP for anyone but the blood suckers.

Guest

I am a festiva owner (lucky me). I can relate to all of the comments on here they are a scam and i got scammed.

Everytime we try to use the vacations there are no availablities, And if you want to use International you have to book a year in advance who can do that.We were also promised a free cruise which i had to turn around and pay 350 dollars more to use.

I ready hope no one else fall for this scam its the worse thing i have done in my life and stuck with for the rest of my life.PLEASE if someone tells you that you have to make a decision now run away they have something to hide. And how come is it that all the comments from Festiva are the same sorry to hear there was an issue how can you not thing that there would be when you are lying to people.

Guest

After 3 hours for a 90 minute demonstartion, you bet I was ready to go. I would never be ignorant enough to spend $31,000 on the spot.

I wanted to research the company before I purchased anything. And I'm so glad I did! I'm upset because they flat out lied to me! It's simple, they lied and I have every reason to be angry.

If they did not intend on giving a free vacation then they should not have stated that they would. And yes they kept the paper stating they were giving us the vacation.

Guest

:grin You are complaining because you werent a successful at getting something for free - like ANYONE would give me something free and I was saying ......gotta go gotta go....you obviously didnt want anything, s why did you even go? I love rading these things.

MY VACATION WASNT FREE!!! :zzz :grin

Guest

I just got this in the mail and made an appointment. The lady on the phone seemed so nice and convincing, but I knew it was fishy(which is why I found this).

Ridiculous!

Thanks for the heads up! I'll pass the word around.

Sara Uyu
